Championship Weekend

I know, I am already falling behind on my NYR...however, don't think you have missed much. Life at the Haney household has not been too eventful lately. Lance is applying for jobs, I am worrying about every application and impatiently awaiting news that he has been offered an interview, and the pups have been rotten. Lance finishes up his PhD in either May or August and as of now, we have no idea where we will be this time next year. This is a complete disaster for someone like myself who plans excessively. Like, I plan years in advance, I do not live for the moment and am completely polar opposite of spontaneous. I have really tried to be more spontaneous and, well what most consider, fun-I just can't do it. This whole waiting game is driving me crazy. I want to know where we will live, what gym I can teach at, where our future children (that aren't even thought about yet) will go to school, the closest park to take the pups, and of course where the closest mall is :) I need prayer, we need prayer, and our situation needs prayer.
We did spend an AUsome weekend with my family these past couple of days. They came to Auburn for the weekend to go to the celebration for the football team and we landed tickets for the men's basketball game to see the Iron Bowl trophy presentation. Very eventful weekend, but we had a great time. It's always so nice to see mom, dad, and Lucas, they always arrive with such cheer :) The bad part is, our weekends together always seem so short and fly by.  Nonetheless, it was a great weekend to be an Auburn tiger, and we thoroughly enjoyed taking every second in. Thank you, tigers, for an unbelievable season. I am so thankful Lance and I have been able to spend this past year in Auburn and will never forget the events we have been able to experience in person in this great town with such wonderful friends. I am so thankful we are and forever will be part of the Auburn family.  War Eagle!

Another Vegan in the Making

Another week at the Haney household has come and gone, and we have finally entered the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP countdown! I proudly wore my orange and blue and "Beat Oregon" button to work on Friday, and have welcomed a lot of tiger fans to the plains for the weekend!
This has just been another week for us filled with work, runs, gym, and the sweet pups.  Lance has been resting up for his LAST semester of college, and I've just been trucking away with WIC.  I had some precious patients that kept me smiling each day, and Lance got to spend some quality time with our children. He also ran a half marathon this morning, and performed very well, he finished in 1:42:55 with a satisfied and content feeling :) YAY, Lance!  Lance starts back with meetings, research, and writing his dissertation this next week. We are still patiently waiting on offers for post-doc or research offers for genius, soon-to-be Dr.Haney :)
One of the highlights of this week was receiving my new cookbook! It is Appetite for Reduction  by the goddess of vegan cuisine, Isa Chandra Moskowitz. She is amazing, and also the best selling author of Veganomicon and Vegan with a Vengeance, Vegan Brunch, Vegan Cookies Invade Your Cookie Jar, and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World.. Most of her cookbooks holds a special place in my kitchen :) Yes, I love Isa. She is amazing. Appetite for Reduction is absolutely wonderful. I was so excited about my new cookbook, I made 3 of the recipes for dinner tonight. This leads to highlight #2 of the week. I spent a couple of days going through the cookbook and making a grocery list, it was hard to only pick one weeks worth of meals, somehow I managed. Tonight, we had Mac and Trees, Sushi Roll Salad, and Blackened Tofu. All 3 were amazing, and even Lance raved.
Now for a little background information, I am vegan and have been for a while now, Lance-not so much. He likes the health benefits and the thought of eating such great foods, however, Lance Haney hates vegetables. Now, if you aren't familiar with vegan cooking, it means no animal products. None. What's left? A lot of stuff made from, you guessed it, vegetables...well, and beans and grains, of course and Lance also despises beans. Tonight we were working on the vegetables. When I first got the recipe book and was looking through it, Lance joined and was excited about Mac and Trees, this really excited me. As you can probably imagine, the "trees" is broccoli, and Lance really doesn't like broccoli. When I was making dinner tonight, Lance was overseeing the operation, and was very puzzled when I pulled a bag of broccoli out of the freezer- apparently soon-to-be Dr.Lance, didn't make this connection. However, dinner tonight became epic as Lance ate and enjoyed broccoli!! Hooray, another vegan in the making :)
Maybe our week needs to be a little more exciting, either way, Lance and his vegetables ranks very high on my list.
Hopefully we will have beautiful snow pictures to come next week, and not too many of icy roads! All we are hoping for is electricity to watch another Auburn victory!

Our First BIG purchase

I guess this makes up grown-ups now :) When Lance and I met, we had the same car, a Civic coupe... a very small car! Traveling was a pain, and finally after making a trip to Corner for Christmas and being completely packed and uncomfortable for about 3 hours each way,we decided to bite the bullet and improve our vehicle situation. We both think we made a great decision and we absolutely LOVE our new car :) What did we get? A Honda Pilot! We found a 2008 at a local dealership, so it had been certified AND the coolest feature- it has a dvd player, yes, Lance and I were both very excited about that. When we will actually be the ones watching the movies, I don't think we really thought about that :) But, we love it and are excited to travel in comfort now!

Happy New Year!!

I cannot believe 2011 is already here! Why do the years seem to go by faster and faster each year? Just when you stop wishing years away and are ready to cherish the time you have, it feels like the days pass by faster than you can even plan for them. That is my New Year's Resolution #1, to cherish time with sweet friends and my perfect family even more.  New Year's Resolution #2 is my commitment to be a good blogger :) and, #3 is to be an awesome coupon-er! I started couponing this past year, like really couponing, and it is slightly addictive. I'm going to keep learning and saving even more $$ in 2011 :)
So far, 2011 in the Haney household has been wonderful. We started our day with a gym date, and thankfully started the year healthy with no stress fractures, arthritic injuries, or inflamed muscles. Since then, we have relaxed and watched the greatest sport ever-college football. I love New Year's Day games, however, our house has not pulled for any SEC teams.  If you don't know by now that we are DIEHARD Auburn tigers, you're just being nosy reading our blog :) So, of course, we never cheer for Bama (and those of you who do, b/c "it's the SEC', SHAME on you!), and with all of the Cam drama, I can't pull for MSU, and well Urban kinda ticked me off as well- so UF's out of the picture, plus they are playing Penn State and Lance has 2 of his 3(almost 4) degrees from there.  We haven't been very successful cheerleaders, but it's been nice to be lazy and have it on the tv all day.
I'm excited to see what 2011 has in store for us. The past 2 years have been amazing, and I never knew how the next one would top the previous year, but it always did :) 2009 was filled with the Boston marathon for me, Lance's first marathon, and we met and fell in love :)

In 2010 we got married, had an amazing honeymoon in Jamaica, and expanded our family to 4 with the adoption of Mr. BoJackson Haney.

What will 2011 hold? I have no idea, but I can't wait to discover what this year is holding for our family!
I'm usually at a loss for resolutions, but I like mine for this year, hopefully I'll stick with [most of] them well :) As for Lance, not sure if he has done any soul searching and decided upon anything for 2011, besides graduating! That is his #1 goal for 2011 :)

Happy New Year from the Haney's! May your 2011 be filled with much love, happiness, and precious moments :)
